DOCUMENTARY

 
In 2011/2012 a full-length documentary about Josef Ganz and his influence on the Volkswagen Beetle will be produced, aimed at an international audience. The documentary will be based on the research and book The Extraordinary Life of Josef Ganz - The Jewish Engineer Behind Hitler's Volkswagen by Dutch journalist Paul Schilperoord.

Footage wanted!

For use in the documentary we are looking for original film footage of Josef Ganz as well as his prototypes Ardie-Ganz (1930) and Adler Maikäfer (1931), the Standard Superior (1933/34), the Bungartz Butz (1934), the BMW AM1 (1932), the Mercedes-Benz models 170 (1931), prototype 120H (1931) and 130H (1933/34), and the 'Swiss Volkswagen' for Rapid (1937-1947). Furthermore, period footage is required from the Berlin motor shows in 1933 and 1934, 1920s/30s German traffic and several German cities including Darmstadt and Frankfurt am Main.
